Laser Hair Removal at Lapiel Laser Center
Alright it is officially summertime (even though it may not feel that way in Chicago), which means bikini season (again, sort of in Chicago). Over the last 6 months, I have been preparing for this. And no, I don’t mean eating healthy and working out every day to get that bikini bod (although I def should’ve been doing that too). What I do mean is that I am way more prepared than last year and that is thanks to laser hair removal from the lovely people at Lapiel Laser Center.
The laser hair removal process
I just completed my sixth and final laser hair removal treatment for my bikini line. And let me tell you, it is life changing!! Even if it weren’t summer, I would still be praising this amazing treatment. After just six visits to Lapiel, my bikini line is as smooth as a baby’s bottom – and I don’t have to shave AT ALL. Like not at all. That is amazing!
I opted for a modified Brazilian, rather than just the bikini line. We all know how sensitive that area can get when it comes to shaving and what a constant pain it can be. I decided to go for a little more than the bikini line so that I don’t have to worry about those annoying hairs. I cannot tell you enough how nice it is to not have to shave – especially when it gets to summer time!
Insider details
So let me give you a few of the insider details about what to expect. I’d like to first start off by saying that Lapiel Laser Center is the best. I have been partnering with them for a while now and love every treatment I’ve ever gotten there. I started with a silk peel, then Botox (which you can read about here) and finally onto laser hair removal.
Now let’s get into the nitty gritty of laser hair removal
There are a lot of mixed reviews when it comes to the level of pain associated with laser hair treatments. If you read my Botox post, then you know I am a baby and have zero pain tolerance. With that being said, laser treatment was not nearly as bad as I thought it was going to be. It basically feels like a small shock or like someone snapped a rubber band at you.
*PRO TIP* Apply numbing cream generously (and I mean very generously) to the entire treatment area and take two Advil/Tylenol/Ibuprofen at least one hour prior to your appointment. The numbing cream is a true game changer.
I will admit that I forgot to put it on before my final appointment and I so deeply regret that. The level of pain was much higher without the numbing cream. Although it did hurt shockingly more without the cream, it is a very short lived pain. The total treatment takes about 15 minutes (for your bikini line at least). I’m pretty sure I can handle most things for only 15 minutes so I made it through my final appointment – with the help of a stress ball in hand and occasional breaks in between zaps.
After every treatment, I started seeing less and less hair. Even after my very first treatment, it took longer for my hair to grow back, and when it did, the hair was finer than before. I honestly wouldn’t shave for 2-3 weeks in between treatments and sometimes even longer. Now that I have completed all six treatments, I really shouldn’t need to shave that area at all. There is a chance that some hairs will return, and if that happens, I will go in for one more follow up appointment to zap those babies away.
All in all, laser hair removal is legit amazing. I started with my bikini because for me it’s the most annoying area to shave. I definitely want to continue the trend and do my under arms and legs next.
To end, here are a few tips for treatment:
– Shave the entire treatment area the day of your appointment
– Apply lots and lots of numbing cream at least one hour prior to your appointment
– Take 2-3 Advil/Tylenol/etc. at least one hour before your appointment
– Wear the protective glasses they give you (I’m pretty sure they make you do this, but gotta protect those eyes)
– Hold onto a stress ball and squeeze that thing every time you feel the zap
– Remember, it’s a very quick process so the pain is short lived
YOU GOT THIS! Now go book your appointment at Lapiel Laser Center because, trust me, it’s worth it!
xoxo,
Whit
